Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Vodder Technique)
Our Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) sessions are performed using the Emil Vodder Technique, the gold standard method of lymphatic therapy recognized worldwide.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a highly specialized, medically focused treatment designed to support the body’s lymphatic system — a critical part of immune function, detoxification, and fluid balance. Unlike traditional massage, MLD uses slow, rhythmic, and precise hand movements to gently stimulate the flow of lymph fluid, helping reduce swelling, inflammation, and congestion within the tissues.
How It Works
The lymphatic system does not have a pump like the heart. It relies on movement and gentle stimulation to circulate properly. Using the Vodder technique, your therapist applies specific, light-pressure strokes in a structured sequence to:
Encourage healthy lymph flow
Reduce fluid retention and edema
Support post-surgical recovery
Assist with detoxification
Calm the nervous system
This is not a deep pressure service. The touch is light, intentional, and therapeutic — designed to work with the superficial lymph vessels just beneath the skin.
Who Can Benefit?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is often recommended for:
Post-operative care (with physician clearance)
Swelling or inflammation
Autoimmune conditions
Chronic sinus congestion
Lymphedema management (non-acute)
Clients seeking immune system support
The Twisted Willow Approach
At Twisted Willow Spa, we provide MLD with a clinical mindset while maintaining the calming, nurturing environment our clients love. Every session is tailored to your specific health history and goals, blending medical precision with restorative care.
If you are unsure whether Manual Lymphatic Drainage is right for you, we offer complimentary consultations to ensure it is a safe and beneficial option for your needs.
MediCupping Therapy
MediCupping is a therapeutic, medically-oriented approach to negative pressure soft tissue mobilization. Unlike traditional stationary fire cupping, MediCupping uses a mechanical vacuum system that allows the therapist to gently lift, glide, and decompress tissues in a controlled and measurable way.
Rather than compressing tissue as in traditional massage techniques, MediCupping creates decompression. This negative pressure helps to:
Increase local circulation
Improve lymphatic flow and drainage
Decrease tissue congestion
Support fascial mobility
Reduce inflammation
Improve range of motion
How MediCupping Works
The suction created by the cup gently lifts the skin and underlying fascia, creating space between tissue layers. This decompression can help release adhesions, soften fibrotic tissue, and encourage proper fluid exchange at the cellular level.
MediCupping is particularly effective for addressing areas where chronic inflammation, stagnation, or fascial restriction are present.
Conditions & Concerns MediCupping May Support
MediCupping may be beneficial for clients experiencing:
Chronic neck and back pain
Sciatica
Shoulder dysfunction
Plantar fasciitis
TMJ discomfort
Headaches and migraines
Post-surgical scarring (once medically cleared)
Lymphatic congestion
Fibrotic or dense tissue
Athletic recovery needs
While MediCupping is not a replacement for medical care, it is an excellent complementary therapy that supports the body’s natural healing processes.
What to Expect
MediCupping can be performed as:
A Full Body MediCupping Session – Designed to address systemic inflammation, fascial restriction, and overall tissue health.
Targeted Area Add-On – Focused treatment to one specific area (such as low back, shoulders, or legs) added to your massage session for enhanced therapeutic results.
Some clients may experience temporary circular discoloration due to increased circulation and the release of stagnation. This is not bruising, but rather an indication of movement within the tissues and typically resolves within several days.
At The Twisted Willow Spa, every MediCupping session is customized to your specific needs and therapeutic goals, ensuring a safe, effective, and results-driven experience.
Cranial Sacral Therapy
Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) is offered as a gentle yet highly focused therapeutic service designed to support the central nervous system and restore balance within the body. This specialized modality works with the craniosacral system — the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Cranial Sacral Therapy uses extremely light, precise touch to evaluate and release restrictions within the head, spine, and sacrum. Although subtle in application, this technique can create profound shifts in tension patterns throughout the entire body.
How It Works
The body holds stress and trauma in both muscular and fascial layers. Restrictions within the craniosacral system can contribute to headaches, chronic pain, nervous system imbalance, and overall tension.
Through gentle holds and micro-adjustments, your therapist works to:
Release fascial restrictions
Improve nervous system regulation
Reduce chronic tension patterns
Support headache and migraine relief
Promote deep relaxation and restorative healing
This is not a traditional massage with pressure. The touch is light, intentional, and neurologically focused, allowing the body to unwind naturally.
Who Can Benefit?
Cranial Sacral Therapy may be beneficial for:
Chronic headaches or migraines
TMJ dysfunction
Neck and back tension
Stress and anxiety
Nervous system dysregulation
Clients recovering from injury or long-term tension patterns

At Twisted Willow Spa, Cranial Sacral Therapy is delivered with clinical awareness while maintaining a calming, supportive environment. Each session is tailored to your specific concerns and comfort level. Our goal is to help your body shift out of fight-or-flight and into a state of rest, repair, and balance.

Massage Therapy with Reiki Integration
e offer Massage Therapy with integrated Reiki to support both the physical body and the energetic system. This service combines therapeutic hands-on bodywork with gentle energy balancing to promote full-body restoration.
Massage therapy addresses muscular tension, fascia restrictions, and circulation, while Reiki supports nervous system regulation and energetic balance. Together, these modalities create a deeply calming experience that works on multiple levels — structural, neurological, and energetic.
How It Works
Your session begins with a customized therapeutic massage tailored to your pressure preference and specific tension patterns. Whether light, medium, or deeper therapeutic pressure is appropriate, the bodywork portion focuses on releasing muscular restriction and improving mobility.
Reiki is then integrated throughout the session using light touch or hands placed slightly above the body. Developed by Mikao Usui, Reiki works to calm the stress response and encourage the body’s natural healing processes.
By combining both approaches, this service can:
Relieve muscular tension
Reduce stress and anxiety
Support emotional release
Improve circulation and lymphatic flow
Promote deeper parasympathetic (rest-and-repair) activation
Encourage overall mind-body balance
Who Is This For?
This blended session is ideal for clients who:
Hold stress both physically and emotionally
Experience chronic tension linked to stress
Feel “drained” or energetically off balance
Want deeper relaxation than massage alone
Are seeking a holistic approach to wellness
The Twisted Willow Approach
At Twisted Willow Spa, we maintain a grounded, professional environment while honoring the subtle energetic aspects of care. Each session is customized to your comfort level — Reiki can be fully integrated, lightly incorporated, or simply used at the end for grounding and balance.
If you are unsure whether Massage with Reiki integration is right for you, we offer complimentary consultations to discuss your goals and create a treatment plan that best supports your wellness journey.
